Horrible month for sure!

Since the last blog, I know forever ago, things with me and this AS of a body has been VERY difficult!  Let me back up or start whichever you prefer!

Mid April, I am literally hugging a trash-can and trying to manage a terrible stomach virus.  Husband comes in and says hes made himself a DRs appointment for this terrible, itchy, painful rash.  Turned out he had shingles.  I head in for the monthly infusion...
If you notice the little cotton taped on my hand--vein blew and this was stick number 2!  They find out about hubby's shingles and put me on the biggest horse pill antibiotic ever seen--as a precaution.  As soon as I'm over this antibiotic I end up with a bladder/kidney infection.  One so severe they were discussing the word hospital?!  I couldn't hardly walk from the pain of the kidney's.  A shot and prescription and 3 days later an IV of meds and I'm finally on the mend.  OK--all you ladies out there reading this--how much antibiotics can one handle before the good old "yeast" happens!  NOT THIS MUCH!  The worst ever and just won't go away!

So for the past 6 weeks, I've basically been "sick" and not from just having AS, but "other" things--INFECTIONS GALORE!  But, wait...oh, yea, all the medication lowers the immune system which causes your body to CATCH OR GET EVERYTHING!

AS causes havoc on our bodies in so many ways.  Not just the damage to our joints and organs.  Not just the daily pain.  AS causes more damage than folks understand.  It's not only exhausting physically, but can also be exhausting mentally.  Do we chose to live this way--UM NO!  Do we want to live this way--HECK NO!  But we do, we must.  Don't think for one minute you can comprehend the daily pain and suffering unless you live it.

Ankylosing Spondylitis is an auto-immune arthritis.  It's NOT your old age or grandmas arthritis--don't say or think--yea, I have arthritis too.  You DON'T have AS.  I may look "fine" whatever that means and if you ask I'll say I feel fine.  I answer this way because you can't see or understand otherwise.

AS has my body, but not me!
